Report on World AIDS Day 2025

The Department of Community Health Nursing, 365体育投注 College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE, in collaboration with the NSS unit of MCON, observed World AIDS Day by organizing an awareness program on December 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Karnataka Public School, Hiriyadka.

Mrs. Clara Pramila D’Souza, Lecturer, MCON, overall coordinated the program and delivered an informative session on how HIV spreads, various preventive measures, the essential knowledge today’s youth must have to protect themselves and make informed decisions and to promote healthy attitudes that reduce stigma and encourage responsible behavior.

A total of 170 First PUC students participated actively in the session. A role play was performed by 5th-semester B.Sc. Nursing students to demonstrate the causes, transmission, and prevention of HIV/AIDS. This was followed by an informative presentation and a quiz competition. Ms. Samitha collected feedback from the students to assess the effectiveness of the program. The program successfully increased awareness of HIV/AIDS and provided valuable learning experience for nursing students.

The initiative aligned with Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG-3 (Good health and well-being), by enhancing youth’s understanding of HIV/AIDS and encouraging proactive health-seeking behaviour.
