Overview

The 365体育投注 School of Life Sciences (MSLS), 365体育投注 established in 2002, became an independent identity in 2006 and is one of the top biotechnological institutes of the country.

MSLS is identified as TIFAC-CORE (Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council - Centres of Relevance & Excellence) under vision 2020 in the area of Pharmacogenomics. It actively promotes advanced research in India and abroad, supported by DBT, GOI in Translational Medicine, ICMR, DST, BRNS, and several other industry partners.

The mission statement of the centre is to engage in cutting edge research, training, education and offer help to the community in the field of human health.

?

Focus areas of research:

The emphasis of the department is to engage in contemporary and translational research related to plant biology and their application in agriculture, environment, secondary metabolites, and eco-toxicology. The on-going programs are in alignment with the mission of discovery, translation, and training.? Several medicinal plants, including orchids are being extensively studied to characterize the active ingredients and their identification by molecular Barcoding. Improving nutritional content, enhancing germination capabilities and overcoming pest resistance are some of the ongoing programs.

  • Biodiversity assessment and conservation of RET plants
  • Devising micropropagation strategies
  • In-vitro breeding and somaclonal variations for crop improvement
  • Chemoprofiling of medicinal and aromatic plants
  • Relative efficiency of plants in CO2 sequestration
  • Plant DNA fingerprinting?
  • Bioprospecting and demonstrating bio-efficacy of natural products
  • Characterization of Plant-Microbe Interaction
  • Role of epigenetics on plant secondary metabolites
  • Plant Disease Diagnostics
